Miami Beach real estate, Miami Beach condos

Plans projected for a 160 story Miami Beach real estate property

Miapolis, a proposed Miami Beach real estate high rise, has a catchy name but there are more questions than answers about a developer's dream of building the world's tallest building; a complex that would soar 160 stories on Miami's Watson Island.

Plans for the new Miami Beach real estate property call for a 3,200 foot tall building that would surpass the Burj Khalifa in Dubai as the world's tallest. The development would include an amusement park, a trade center, an observatory, a shopping mall, restaurants, Miami Beach condos, Miami office space as well as a hotel and a marina.

Watson Island developer wants extension on financing

The developer behind a long-delayed Miami Beach real estate luxury resort on Watson Island wants more time to acquire financing for the $640 million project on the city owned land.

Flagstone Island Gardens developer Mehmet Bayraktar, under pressure from city officials, on Tuesday offered $500,000 to cover back rent in exchange for extending deadlines to start the construction on the luxury Miami Beach real estate marina, hotel and retail complex he's been trying to build the entire decade.

‘Island Gardens’, Watson Island Miami Beach

Construction is finally underway on the much anticipated $640 million Island Gardens on Watson Island. The project, seven years in the making, is a mixed-use resort with a super-yacht harbor for vessels over 400 feet long, a luxury hotel, 98 fractional residences, spa, high-end retail shops, dining, waterfront promenade, fish market, leisure gardens and maritime gallery. The joint venture between Flagstone Property Group and ING Clarion Partners is slated for completion in 2010.

Earlier this year developers asked for an extension on their agreement to build the project on city land they have been sitting on since 2001. The city agreed on one condition: pay a monthly rent of $60,000 for the next year and $83,300 for six months beyond that, totaling $1.2 million.
