According to a study released Thursday, South Florida housing is less expensive than it used to be, but even after drastic price drops, home ownership remains out of reach for many skilled workers.
According to the study by the Center for Housing Policy, a Washington-based research group, Miami-Dade fell from the 34th-most-expensive U.S. housing market to 40th, from 2007 to 2008; the county was tied with Chicago, Salt Lake City, Tacoma, Wash., and Provo, Utah, for 40th place. All five areas had a median home price of about $225,000.
