November-Florida Ranks #3 for Foreclosures

Depending on where you get your information and whose real estate market statistics you are looking at, the number of foreclosures in Florida may vary. What you can count on to be the truth is that the November foreclosures certainly increased on a year-over-year basis, but are declining when compared with October’s numbers.

While some reports have Florida ranked at third place, a report from RealtyTrac ranked Florida second in the country for the number of Florida real estate properties in some form of foreclosure. There numbers show November, with 29,238, and second in foreclosure rates, with one property for every 282 households.

On a good note, the foreclosure rate fell by 3% from October even though the foreclosure rate was up more than 212% from November of last year.

Nationwide, foreclosures were up 68% from November 2006, but down 10% from October. That drop in the past month provides a glimmer of hope that the foreclosure boom might be winding down.

*RealtyTrac includes properties that are in default, up for auction or owned by the lender.
